What will happen in your session?

Participants will create interactive 'sharings' on a key topic. They will begin by considering what [the topic] means to them; what do they feel, what images spring to mind, do they have insight around the topic that they would like to share with others? Next, participants are introduced to the tech, then they get creative mixing crafts & tech they create their own 'Digital Doodle' for the Interactive Sharing Wall. Inventions could be built using light sensors, buttons, distance sensors, LEDs, servos & motors. It will be coded using a drag & drop environment. This Shed/Gallery experience will be one to peruse as well as partake in, with an exciting visual result.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

The goal is twofold:

  1. Participants to take stock of their thoughts on the topic (for example data privacy).
  2. Through sharing of thoughts, the intention is for the Interactive Sharing Wall to become an installation which can be viewed by passers by across the festival, providing a fun and unique way to explore ideas around a topic, with insights and observations shared that some individuals may not have considered before.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

Corrugated rolls of cardboard, some craft materials, power and the space to display the creation after the session.

Time needed

All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session

A 90 minute session on the Saturday morning would be great, and would allow the end result of this session to be viewed and interacted with across the weekend.
The topic can be adjusted to fit whichever zone & message best suits.
This could also work in the Youth Zone, having it in both the youth zone and adult zone would create a really beautiful cross-section of the different approaches and thoughts on the topic, from the different age groups.
