Opus is most likely1 the best lossy audio codec currently in existence. It's highly configurable, apparently very complex, and most importantly an open IETF standard (RFC 6716) without patents. Serenity's LibAudio should support it!
This issue only exists so I can pay someone to do this. Let's see if anyone is indeed more motivated for it than I am :^)
