This is the first of a series of specs addressing the callout editor UI and UX. On this one, we gathered all the editable settings and aspects, reviewed the copyediting for consistency and grouped things logically.

For this purpose we've added a new on/off UI component. This is because, in this context, help text can be confusing, so instead we included a secondary text describing the effect of the current setting, which will change according to what’s selected.

Settings for map-based callouts would be placed on a different tab/section to avoid clutter.

Here is the copy we came up with for the updated fields (⭐ marks the default setting)

Access and visibility

Members-only access
✔️ Only members will be able to access and participate in this callout ⭐
✖️ Everyone will be able to access and participate in this callout

Hide callout from user dashboards
✔️ The callout will only be accessible via a direct link
✖️ The callout will appear on user dashboards

Scheduling

Callout start date
✔️ The callout will be made available at a specific date
✖️ The callout is open after its creation ⭐

Callout end date
✔️ The callout will stop accepting responses at a specific date
✖️ The callout will run until manually closed ⭐

Anonymity and security

Allow anonymous responses
✔️ People who respond will not be asked for their contact information
✖️ People who respond will be asked for their contact information ⭐

Anonymize responses from members (only show if previous is true)
✔️ The identity of members who respond will be hidden from you
✖️ Members who respond will be identified

Enable bot spam protection
✔️ Non-members will be asked to fill out a CAPTCHA
✖️ Bot detection is disabled

Response settings

Allow users to respond more than once
✔️ People will be able to respond multiple times
✖️ People are only allowed to respond once

Allow users to edit their responses
✔️ People will be able to change their responses until the callout is closed
✖️ Responses are final and not editable
