Does DAVx5 work with "restricted user profiles"?

I'm setting up the family Samsung Galaxy S6lite running LineageOS18.1. I installed DAVx5 but it does not sync any data under my child's restriced profile. I also cannot delete any account (in DAVx5 I receive the confirmation but then the account is never removed).

Does anyone run DAVx5 successfully under a restricted user profile and if so can tell me how to correctly set it up?

According to https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/application-element#requiredAccountType, restricted profiles can't create accounts:

Because restricted profiles currently cannot add accounts, specifying this attribute makes your app unavailable from a restricted profile unless you also declare android:restrictedAccountType with the same value.

So as I understand it, DAVx⁵ should declare the android:restrictedAccountType for the DAVx⁵ account type, which would make DAVx⁵ unavailable for restricted profiles.

What is your use case of using DAVx⁵ in a restricted profile? I think it won't work because Android doesn't allow it for restricted profiles.

It is the family tablet so I have restricted profiles for my children and I also wanted to use DAV to synchronize their contacts/calendars via the different devices.

I see. I think you will have to decide between either giving them unrestricted profiles or using apps like DAVx⁵ (or the Android email app) which require accounts.

I was however able to create the account just fine, it is just not synchronising...

We will try to reproduce and test with restricted profiles (internally tracked by https://github.com/bitfireAT/davx5/issues/76). However at the moment I can unfortunately only say that according to the Android docs, that's not supported by Android. Which device / firmware / Android version do you use?

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6lite Wifi (SM-P610) and I run the MicroG-vesion of LineageOS, currently:

According to our tests, Android does not allow to create accounts in restricted profiles. So you can't use DAVx⁵ from within a restricted profile.
