Outcome

An ESS customer had this issue in Element Desktop:

I was catching up on messages after a week of the client being offline and while just casually scrolling through a room, the Element Desktop UI froze on me. I was able to minimize the window and right click/quit the app in the tray, unlike in the past where I had to have Windows kill the process.

I saw some CPU usage in Element spike at the time of the issue, see the screenshot below:
