When there are more than 2 tabs open I prefer to switch tabs in the most recently used order. This allows me to quickly toggle between 2 tabs. I.e. I would like an option to switch tabs with the same behavior as switching between windows. (alt+tab, or cmd+tab)
Example - current behavior
next_tab
action, tab1 is selectednext_tab
again, tab2 is selected.Example - desired behavior
next_tab
action, tab2 is selectednext_tab
again, tab4 is selected.Sugested solution
The
next_tab
andprevious_tab
commands could function as they do today and new actions (e.g.previous_tab_mru
andnext_tab_mru
) could be added that allow keybindings to trigger this functionality.EDIT: In the examples I originally used
privious_tab
, but I think it would actually benext_tab
