"Spoqa Han Sans" was created by Spoqa which company that launched Dodo point. Spoqa Han Sans is a custom font based on Noto Sans and Lato to fit multilingual UI of Spoqa’s products. And it is open source font as well that distributed under SIL Open Font License

We've been using Spoqa Han Sans at any product that we built. And I think that it would be nice to add at googlefonts!

Thank you for suggesting this, @admire93!

What were the customizations?

@davelab6 Thank you for your replying.

There are some customizations in Spoqa Han Sans.

  1. We customized numeric figures for
Spoqa's service. Since Dodo point is a loyalty program that based on customer's phone number, We refined rounded strokes of Lato to accordingly match Noto Sans Korean.
  2. We optimized font file size for
websites. Because It affects the performance of our application that served on the web, So we reduced its size down to 441KB, which was 16MB in the initial version.
  3. We changed the form of the Roman alphabet Q, a, y. We removed the curved tail of the uppercase Q and the lowercase to give glyphs a firm impression.
  4. We added Light, a font style between 'Regular' and 'Thin'. 'Thin' is too thin for large text on web pages, and 'Regular' is rather thick.

For more information, see the feature page of Spoqa Han Sans or our blog post (which was written in Korean.)
