Recently found out about (thanks @dlorenc!):
https://github.com/chainguard-dev/apko
https://github.com/chainguard-dev/melange

Which provide a toolchain to build fully composable OCI images out of declarative manifest for apk packages.

It would be awesome to discuss if we can reuse this to provide alpine variant of the container images that capture a given "design to GDS/bitstream" user flow, similar to what we discussed in hdl/conda-eda#245 (comment)
