kmxz using your merge tool with a single lower in https://github.com/StuartIanNaylor/zram-config.
Firstly many thanks as even though OverlayFS is now a mainline module there seems to be a total lack of any tools apart from yours.

I am terribly new to OverlayFS but when it comes to renaming folders and redirect_dir do you plan to add support?

At the time I wrote this tool, redirect_dir wasn't there yet. I will try to support it when I have time.

Brilliant because as far as I am aware overlayfs-tools is the only tool in existence and has just the best licence.
I am a terrible scripter and my C is non existent and the merge down to a single lower for https://github.com/StuartIanNaylor/zram-config just wouldn't be possible without merge and if you ever have the time to maybe quell my curiosity how it seems to be a kernel module with the absence of any tools seems weird?

Anyway if you do I will endeavour to WTFPL and if it could also have an output directory and 'run script' option that would be awesome but secondary.

https://github.com/StuartIanNaylor/zram-config is just a hack for makers, IoT and tinkerers and it would really appreciate overlayfs-tools in fact its essential.
So currently on my mounts I should run -o redirect_dir=off at the moment then?

Hows it doing? Time or just a pain?
