SimpleFin Bridge (U.S.A.)

SimpleFin Bridge (https://www.simplefin.org/) is a data connector that works with many U.S. banks. There's currently an integration with ActualBudget that I'm using that works quite well so far.

I am using this as well. Works great! Costs $15/year. You can share the account with someone as well - as long as you are comfortable with them having access to your transactions.

Is this being built into Maybe? How does Maybe handle this?

SimpleFin is by far the best choice for end-user/self hosted. Ease of use and setup for automatically imported accounts is my number 1 Feature when deciding what to use. This should be pushed ahead of the plaid integration.

Just wanted to note that like Plaid can, SimpleFIN also supports Canadian institutions! :)

I think better than plaid, because you can host your own connections. Plaid looks a bit limited because you either manage connections to existing apps, or you have a developer account which has other limitations.

I have been taking a look (with my extremely limited understanding of ruby), and so far it looks like its pretty easy to implement this using the existing plaid structure. I will submit a PR soon and hopefully it will be picked up, or at least start a more complete implementation.

I wrote this entire project myself with help of ChatGPT. I don't know python or html. Though I have enhanced a lot , didn't upload it back to github. But for SimpleFin, you can take a look at the code in there. Someone can integrate this into "Maybe" if it already not provides integration.
