The issue

Run the cmake generator sucessfully, but run the cmake in build-mode failed

I even switched to a new Windows computer and followed the entire build_static process, but I'm still encountering this error.

I've been stuck on this issue for two days, requesting help.

Run the cmake generator sucessfully:
cmake .. -G "Visual Studio 17 2022" -A x64 -DVCPKG_TARGET_TRIPLET=x64-windows-static-md -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE=D:\vcpkg\scripts\buildsystems\vcpkg.cmake -DIce_HOME=D:\vcpkg\installed\x64-windows-static-md -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug

Run cmake --build . Error:
"D:/CodeSpace/CodeRTC/mumble/overlay"
CUSTOMBUILD : CMake error : The source directory "D:/CodeSpace/CodeRTC/mumble/build/overlay/overlay_xcompile-prefix/src

Specify --help for usage, or press the help button on the CMake GUI.

These paths look odd to me... just for the fun of it: does the same error appear when you configure and build in Release mode instead?

What's odd about the path? It's almost the same mistake, but with an extra mistake in the Release mode , something about "/O2" and "/RTC1" are incompatible

The fact that you have a overlay-xcompile-prefix directory. This directory doesn't exist in our source tree and I have never seen cmake create it

It's in the build directory, not the source one.

Doesn't change my statement. I have never noticed this directory being generated.

It's generated on Windows when cross-compiling the overlay library.
