Go 1.24 upgrade check list

I'm always frustrated when we're not using the latest and greatest Go. There is Go 1.24 now.

Describe the solution you'd like

Upgrade to Go 1.24 min. Pay attention to:

• os.Root for additional security (https://go.dev/pkg/os#Root, but I doubt we can use it effectively anywhere
• testing.B.Loop for benchmarks (https://go.dev/pkg/testing#B.Loop)
• crypto/hkdf, crypto/pbkdf2, crypto/sha3 use where appropriate
• new iterators from bytes and strings for more efficiency (https://go.dev/pkg/bytes#Lines, https://go.dev/pkg/bytes#SplitSeq, https://go.dev/pkg/bytes#SplitAfterSeq, https://go.dev/pkg/bytes#FieldsSeq, https://go.dev/pkg/bytes#FieldsFuncSeq)
• RFC6979 signatures with https://go.dev/pkg/crypto/ecdsa#PrivateKey.Sign
• crypto/rand.Read never failing (https://go.dev/pkg/crypto/rand#Read)
• omitzero in https://go.dev/pkg/encoding/json/
• new go/types features for compiler https://go.dev/doc/go1.24#gotypespkggotypes
