Issue with REF Framework: TemporalUpscaler Not Working! (Help Needed) #1172
Comments
Exact same problem here. Have used REFramework before, see the option appear ingame, PDPerfPlugin.dll is in the correct spot, tells me it's missing. Using the latest builds of both. |
I'm having the exact same issue. I tried using the latest and older versions of REFramework, UpscalerBasePlugin and of DLSS. I even deleted the mod files to then copied and pasted them in the game directory again (read that fixed it for someone in Reddit), but still getting the same effin message. Reading the installation instructions of the UpscalerBasePlugin on Nexusmods, PureDark says that you have to paste the dll of the upscaler in the UpscalerBasePlugin folder. I have no idea where said folder is, though. I tried creating a folder with that name in the game directory and putting a copy of the dlss dll file in there but that didn't work. Not sure what else to do at this point. Will have to play with FSR2 in the meantime, I guess. |
I think I found the solution. You have to download version 1.1.2 of UpscalerBasePlugin. Perhaps this old version will work because Reframework does not support a newer version. Download link: |
That was it, man, You're a genius! Thanks <3 |
thanks! it worked |
Game crashing after launching |
¡¡Eres un genio, TY!! |
Im still having the issue rtx 3060, it boots with just the UpscalerBasePlugin but it just says If i put the dlss file in it crashes and closes on boot. |
You've downloaded the wrong UpscalerBasePlugin version. It's not the first download button, it's misleading, I know... |
all instructions are currently not working. I was sorting through different files, I managed to make it work. If anyone needs files that are definitely working at the moment, I will send the whole list to your email or anywhere. But I don't know where to upload them. In general, modders do everything very crookedly, it is not compatible with each other, although it was created exactly for this. Very strange. |
cant make it work with re4, can you help me? |
I can send you files that are definitely working. I had all these problems myself. Where should I send them? |

I have an old 2070 TI card and for some reason everything is blurred for the latest DLSS, there are 3 of them in the link, try the latest one, if not, then install the previous one from these 3. I also got kicked out of the game or the "TEMPORAL UPSCALER" item simply did not appear, with these it definitely worked, I even double-checked it all a couple of times. |
Does anyone know if the UpscalerBasePlugin + nvngx_dlss.dll method work on Linux? Haven't been able to get it to work (Backend is not loaded message) edit: nvm got it to work. thx to @BioJorge for pointing out the 1.1.2 works. Kinda wondering why the 1.2.0 build is broken? Too bad it's closed source |
1.2.0 build maybe not for normal games, it mentioned updated for skyrim vr. so just use 1.1.2 for now and it's enough and well worked with xess 2.0 with my poor xe igpu. already very nice. |
NONE of this worked, doesn't matter what version I use temporal upscaling refuses to load! I've tried the files someone hosted on their google drive, I've tried downloading multiple versions from GH and nothing seems to work. I've followed all the online instructions and fixes but something has fundamentally broken and RE4 just refuses to work with it now :| This isn't helped by how lacklustre the instructions are for both REFramework and the upscaler but even following YT guides and copying the files into the same places hasn't helped so I just think something fundamental has changed or flat out broken. |
I'll double check and send you back what's working. |
Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with the REF Framework when trying to use TemporalUpscaler. The error message I’m getting says:
Backend is not loaded. TemporalUpscaler will not work. Make sure you’ve downloaded UpscalerBasePlugin (PDPerfPlugin.dll) and the corresponding DLLs for your preferred upscaler (DLSS/FSR2/XeSS).
I’ve ensured that all the required files are present in the same folder, including:
-PDPerfPlugin.dll
-ffx_fsr3_x64.dll and ffx_fsr3upscaler_x64.dll (for FSR)
-nvngx_dlss.dll (for DLSS)
However, the framework doesn’t seem to recognize them.
What I’ve Tried So Far:
1-Verified that the files are in the correct folder.
2-Installed all necessary libraries like DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable.
3-Used the latest version of the REF Framework.
Any Ideas What Might Be Causing This?
-Is there a configuration file I need to edit?
-Could this be related to version compatibility?
I’d really appreciate your help in resolving this issue. Thanks in advance! 😊
