Following the instruction presented in #674, I've made Radiant Player 1.11.6 work on my two Mojave machines.

But, as I use it, all 5 important buttons (Play/Stop, Previous & Next; Back & Forward) "eventually" disappear. I haven't figured out what events trigger their disappearance.

Same problem here, the buttons were gone immediately. I would like that add that I also can't open the playlist after starting a random playlist with "I'm feeling lucky".

Same; I have allowed Radiant in the accessibility settings, restarted, reinstalled, logged in/out, tried different themes...but I can't get the controls back. 😢

This is still happening. Is there a fix in the works?

Any idea when the PR will be submitted when we'll have another version? It is really hard to use the player when we don't know where to click... 😞

It's really frustrating seeing that after months of not being able to use this, the fix is still sitting in a PR waiting to be merged. @jacobwgillespie do you need help?

Hey everyone 👋

I merged PR #671 and tagged it as v1.12.0 - assuming the Travis CI build succeeds, it should be released shortly.

Radiant Player is not actively maintained - I believe I'm the last of the existing maintainers who still (sometimes) check GitHub issues. I don't personally use Radiant or Google Music anymore.

If you're looking for something more maintained, I would recommend checking out GPMDP (https://www.googleplaymusicdesktopplayer.com/). It has more recent releases, should be more immune to Google Music changes, and supports YouTube Music.

If anybody's interested in assisting with Radiant maintenance - I'd appreciate it, though there's a few external obstacles Radiant is facing at the moment:

  • Radiant uses embedded Safari webviews, which frequently break as Google adjusts Google Play Music (they basically support Chrome). The better fix would be to rewrite Radiant in Electron to take advantage of a Chrome-like environment. GPMDP is written with Electron, or there's https://github.com/radiant-player/radiant-player-electron, but it's quite old.
  • Google is shutting down Google Play Music in 2019 and transitioning everything to YouTube Music

That said, if anybody would like to contribute code, triage issues, etc, feel free to @-mention me and I'll do what I can to get things moving.
