Termination of the public (demo) bot

Thanks to everyone who tried out the demo 'Minecraft Server' bot. It got added to up to 1050 discord servers, which is an amazing milestone for a relatively small project like this!

Unfortunately, I've made the decision to shut it down for the following reasons:

• People are getting banned by using it. Even though I've clearly stated that adding the bot to your server is at your own risk, people don't read and link it to their main aternos accounts 🤷‍♂️ In order to protect you guys from yourselves, it's better to shut it down.
• It's currently not working due to a hard IP ban by aternos. See [BUG] Bot saying "Invalid credentials. Use /configure to reconfigure the bot." Even though ATERNOS_SERVER and ATERNOS_SESSION is added #44 and [BUG] failed to start #58
• Maintenance; a VPS costs money and as the project grows better hardware requirements need to be met, which I currently don't want to invest in since I barely play MC myself anymore
• Back to the roots. This project was initially intended to be self hosted by people who care to put in a little effort and maybe contribute back to make it even better.

So, what happens next?

• The bot will be updated to link to this announcement whenever a command is entered and it will be removed from discord by the end of this month.
• README.md and YouTube descriptions will be updated and any links to the public bot removed.
• I will close any issues/discussions that are not related to self-hosted bots

The only supported way to use this bot from this point onward is to host it yourself. Replit does still NOT work.

Sorry if this is dumb to ask but, how are they getting banned? From aternos? Is this not under their terms of use?

Using this bot is against their terms of use. So yes, aternos could ban your account if they somehow know you're using this bot.

Does it stay in the server or just turn the server off and on

No it's not and never will be a 24/7 bot. It only turns it on and off.
