I think there is beauty in software that is designed to enable end users to make stuff with it, software that makes it convenient for users to combine parts into a greater whole.
The tech world has been moving away from that paradigm since Office,
favoring monolithic applications that are designed to be convenient for solving a specific developer-specified set of problems and extensible only in developer-intended ways.
I think the design space for modern composable software is still mostly unexplored.
I would love to have the time and energy to work on larger and more-interesting projects, such as exploring the aforementioned design space.
I would love to be able to contribute more to the enrichment of IRC through IRCv3, a chat protocol that is aging but uniquely flexible.
I would love to have more time to give back to the software projects I use.
Unfortunately, I live in a fairly rural area in a state that doesn't have all that many high-tech jobs where I might get paid to support open-source software.
I expend a sizeable portion of my time and energy on work that I neither enjoy nor makes good use of my skillset.
Right now, I have to find creative ways to squeeze development time in between my other responsibilities.
For now, I'm setting this up as a virtual tip jar.
If I've helped you, if you've found something I've made useful, or if you're a generous person, consider giving me some spare change.
I would deeply appreciate it.
