Sometimes the bitrate is a false friend we all know that.
The documentation say trust your eyes, why not include VMAF or a similar tool to help select the file that is of highest quality ?

I'm not sure how much of a performance impact adding VMAF would mean specifically, as it requires basically analyzing the whole video instead of the current approach of just extracting reference frames. But of course, it would greatly improve the trust in the auto deletion. It doesn't include sound quality metrics, and it is also a "average quality of video" metric, meaning that if some portions are terrible it is not reported. But it does seem like a good option, thanks !!!
