defaults to configure the macOS Mail App?

Hi there,
I was surprised to find that there is no com.apple.mail plist on macOS Ventura.

Does anybody known how the Mail app can be changed using defaults?

• e.g. to enable the view setting „Show Contact photos“…

At first glance it seems that you might've opened this up within the wrong place.

However, you'll find a few examples that answer you question below:
