Braid is a group chat prototype built in clojure(script) that was open-sourced as a result of the conversations about the Slackpocalypse.

The main concern is that the design vision of Braid is not to be Slack/IRC-like (rooms and groups), which may not be a good fit for our requirements. Specifically:

  • the Slack/IRC style of group chat is more familiar to users
  • ... (TODO)

On the other hand, Braid's novel design is a direct result of trying to address issues with discussion quality in Slack/IRC style chat applications (see Braid's motivation). These benefits may have positive effect on the clojurians community and are worth considering, however, it is difficult to make a decision presently due to how early Braid is in its development.

The core developers behind Braid intend to accelerate its development in order to help clarify its potential as a platform that can meet the needs of the clojurians community.
