This struct is used by the
EntryPointMapin the gfx Metal backend. ImplementingSerializeandDeserializefor this means that we can then serialize a SPIR-V -> MSL transformation cache (see also gfx-rs/gfx#3719 and gfx-rs/gfx#3716 (comment)).
