##About Pixelated
Pixelated is meant to help organisations implement a secure email solution. In this context secure means that communication cannot be intercepted trivially by adversary parties. The goal is not, and arguably cannot be, to make communication secure against all known and unknown adversaries.
The solution incorporates software from the LEAP project. It addresses two key problems we see with communication on the internet today:
##Problems addressed
-
Mass surveillance – If we can achieve widespread use of secure communication it will be too costly to routinely intercept the majority of communication on the internet. This does not mean that a motivated adversary will not be able to intercept specifically targeted communication, but it should end mass surveillance on the scale we have to endure today.
-
Centralisation – If we can make it easy (again) for organisations to host their own communication infrastructure, there will be less dependency on the major service providers.
