Releases: traffordDataLab/traffordDataLab.github.io
a11y-blue-v1
This release continues the work to improve accessibility (a11y) and comply with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. It is also the first to feature the new Lab style, changing the main theme colour from orange to blue amongst other things.
It passes W3C validator checks for the code and WAVE checks for accessibility.
a11y-beta-orange
Although the Trafford Data Lab website has been live since late 2017, no releases have been created for it until now. This release is intended to be a baseline which can be referenced by our other outputs in order to preserve their layout and appearance as we proceed with applying the new Lab theme and making changes in order to improve accessibility and comply with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
The release has not been given a typical semantic versioning name for a couple of reasons. Firstly as it is a simple website rather than a service or software application etc. the concept of features additions and bug fixes isn't as applicable. Secondly I wanted something more readily understandable when it is referenced in links (e.g. outputs in other repos referencing the CSS etc.) The naming explanation is as follows:
a11y - meaning "accessibility" as defined in the A11Y Project
beta - the accessibility work is not complete
orange - referring to the Lab theme
This version contains many changes over the original website code in order to make it more accessible, including changing the tone of the Lab orange in order to increase the contrast ratio. This work began in December 2019 and is on-going. It currently passes W3C validator checks for the code and WAVE checks for accessibility, however it does not yet feature an accessibility statement. This will be added on a successive release once further improvements have been made.
